Why You Can't Be Scared

...in a TEAM setting

Why You Can’t Be Scared…

Fear is a normal part of the athletic experience. You are ALWAYS going to face Athletes who are:

  • BIGGER THAN YOU

  • FASTER THAN YOU

  • STRONGER THAN YOU

  • MORE SEASONED THAN YOU

While there is nothing wrong with fear, you have to know ‘where’ to direct those emotions…ESPECIALLY in a TEAM SETTING.

In psychology, we have what we call mirror neurons…In its simplest form, these are neurons in our brains that are activated when we see behavior acted out in other people. We actually start to FEEL what other are experiencing…even though it’s not physically happening to us!

When we see images like this:

OR like this:

OR like this…

…we actually ‘feel’ some type of way.

But God has something to say to say about this too!!! God shows us a tremendous example of how dangerous FEAR can be in a TEAM SETTING.

Deuteronomy 20:1-11 lays out a blueprint for making sure your team and teammates are ready to engage in a high-stakes environment.

“Research shows us that the confidence that we have in ourselves directly affects the confidence that not only our coaches have in us, but that our teammates have in us”
