CREATURES OF FLIGHT

Use ALL the power God gave you…

JOSIAH IGONO, PHD

I used to have an explosive temper. Some of you can relate! As a competitor, it definitely has its advantages. Uncontrolled anger, however, is not healthy.

The Bible tells us in James 1:20 “for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”

It is OK to get upset. It is a natural human emotion. It’s typically what happens afterwards that gets us in trouble.

Uncontrolled anger is a direct reflection your levels of control and maturity. Adlai E. Stevenson famously stated, “You can tell the size of a man by the size of the thing that makes him mad.”

Stop letting the LITTLE stuff get you off track.

FEATURE POST

Several years ago, when I was in college, I needed a summertime job to keep things going. I needed to feed myself, and put gas in my car.

My good friend, Steve Lappen, connecting me with a successful lawyer in the Phoenix area.

This specific lawyer had a huge horse ranch up in North Phoenix/Scottsdale area. He had Arabians, Clydesdales, all kinds of horses. Some of these horses were probably worth more than some people’s cars!

Everyday, I would feed these horses, and I would play a game of fetch with their Australian Shepherd. This dog had absolutely no quit in him. Lol. Being from the Southside, I had never ridden a horse before, so seeing them up close was nothing short of amazing.

When it comes to energy, this dog is no joke…

The Epiphany

One day, when I was feeding these horses., I had an epiphany. Despite how strong horses are, they are considered creatures of flight.

More specifically, horses are triggered by sudden movements, and sounds (such as a rodent, a snake, and loud noises). When a horse detects this type of threat, it’s immediate instinct is to run. Horses are designed to run. They feel liberated when they run… They are true creatures of flight.

As I’m feeding the horses, the epiphany I had was as follows:

If horses only understood how strong they were, they would crush anything that stood in its path.

Horses are powerful. A horse’s kick can create serious damage. it can even be fatal in certain circumstances.

The more I thought through this, the realization that kept running through my mind was that human beings are the same!

God has given us various gifts, talents, and abilities. Many of us are so strong and gifted in certain areas of our life, but we let the littlest things throw us off. We let things that don’t even matter, write us, and send us running away from our destiny.

Don’t be a creature of flight!

Understand who you are, and whose you are, and you’ll be able to crush anything in your path!

Your friend,

Josiah Igono
