Just By Thinking About It…

It’s wild to think about, but the same areas of your brain that are activated by doing something physical can be activated simply by just thinking about it.

Not only do we use our brains for ‘thinking’, but all movement starts in the brain as well. Muscle memory is a myth (more on that in a later post).

God tells us throughout Scripture to protect our minds. I will share some Bible verses shortly, but take a look at what is happening when we visualize:

• Confidence: Research shows that Visualization + Skill Work = ⇧ CONFIDENCE

• Unlimited: Visualization is a way to get “unlimited” reps

• Automaticity: Visualization strengthens motor pathways

• Threat: Visualization lowers threat response

Remember how we said visualization activates different areas of the brain?

Well, one of these areas is the lateral cerebellum. The cerebellum is largely responsible for accuracy, balance, and coordination. Below is an image of the cerebellum laid out…you notice anything?:
