Sometimes We Forget
...that there is nothing bigger

There’s an old saying that tells us, “Sometimes the most powerful insights come from simply being reminded.”
As an Athlete, your journey has probably been long and arduous. Our lives are the same way. Many of you have been through some very difficult things in your life.
Sometimes we forget how strong we are.
Sometimes we forget how resilient we are.
Sometimes we forget that we are ready.
Sometimes we forget the progress we’ve made.
… And ultimately, sometimes we forget how big God is.
The disciples were the same way. In the middle of one of the most intense moments of their lives (a literal storm), they forgot how BIG God was.

Jesus was sleeping during a storm…
You see, when you study this story (Mark 4:35-40), you’ll notice something very interesting. While these guys were freaking out and fearing for their lives, Jesus was literally sleeping in the stern of the boat. Furthermore, if you read the story, you’ll notice something even more interesting… and somewhat comical: Jesus was asleep on a pillow!
How ironic… How ironic that during this “big problem”, Jesus was unfazed. Not only was he unfazed, but he was comfortable. So comfortable, that he was asleep!
After rebuking the wind, and speaking to the sea, Jesus turned to his disciples and asked them’
“Why are you so fearful? How was it that you have no faith?”

Don’t ever forget how big GOD is…
We need to learn from this story. Jesus was trying to teach us all something very important:
There’s nothing bigger than God…nothing.
Regardless of how scary things get, there’s nothing bigger than God.
Regardless of the danger that is present, there’s nothing bigger than God.
Regardless of what may happen in the future, there’s nothing bigger than God.
We need to be reminded of this powerful story because sometimes we forget.
